Human Rights and Good Governance Program
DEW has implemented a human rights project called “A Broad-based Coalition and Advocacy for Human Rights” in Sharishabari, Jamalpur district, supported by Aus Aid (the Australian High Commission).
DEW formed a Women's rights committee and human rights committee in the field areas
The project aims to improve human rights and to reduce the incident of violence against women by the means of cooperation with cross-section people change agents both within civil societies and government institutions, and to influence the policy environment and decision-making processes. To establish responsive governance, DEW is using various methods such as policy advocacy, the promotion of women & child rights, gender equity, development and peace within the society through ensuring active participation of the local communities in Dhanmondi, New market, Uttara and Tejgaon Thana under Dhaka City Corporation area in collaboration with Dhaka Development Forum (DDF).
With the technical support of Oxfam GB and Steps towards Development, the project is funded by Oxfam GB, the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the Swedish Embassy. The project's objective is to establish good governance, human rights and social justice in every part of the society, which will be free from all gender discrimination.
